Four steps from confusion to a working plan

1

Diagnostic deep-dive

We spend two days inside your operation: reviewing financials, interviewing your leadership team, and mapping the bottlenecks nobody talks about in meetings. You receive a written diagnostic within five working days.

2

Priority workshop

A half-day session with your senior team where we rank every opportunity by impact and effort. Most clients arrive with twelve priorities and leave with three that actually matter this quarter.

3

Execution sprints

We work alongside your people in two-week cycles, each with a concrete deliverable. Think pricing restructure, sales pipeline redesign, or a hiring plan tied to revenue targets.

4

Handover and review

At week eight we hand over the playbook, train whoever owns each initiative, and schedule a 90-day check-in. No open-ended retainers unless you ask for one.

What we actually do

Six areas where we have done this enough times to be useful.

Growth strategy

We model your revenue drivers, test pricing scenarios, and build a 12-month growth roadmap grounded in your actual unit economics. The output is a spreadsheet you can update monthly, not a slide deck that gathers dust.

Operational efficiency

Where is time leaking? We audit workflows, measure cycle times, and redesign the processes that cost you the most. One distribution client cut order fulfilment time from 4.2 days to 1.8 days within six weeks of our engagement.

Financial restructuring

Cash-flow problems rarely fix themselves. We renegotiate supplier terms, restructure debt where needed, and build rolling 13-week cash forecasts so you always know what is coming.

Leadership coaching

Fortnightly one-to-one sessions with your founder or MD, focused on decisions that are actually on the table this week. We do not teach theory; we help you think through the call you need to make by Friday.

Market entry planning

Thinking about a new geography or vertical? We research the target market, size the opportunity, identify channel partners, and build a go-to-market timeline with clear kill criteria so you know when to stop spending.

People and hiring

We write role scorecards tied to business outcomes, design structured interview loops, and help you build compensation frameworks that attract the right people without overpaying. Typical time to fill drops from 67 days to 31 days.

Insightful Consult team brainstorming around a whiteboard

Started in Scotland, working across the UK

We opened in 2017 with a single client: a family-owned food manufacturer in Fife whose margins had been shrinking for three years. Within eight months their gross margin recovered by 14 percentage points. That engagement taught us something we still believe: the answer is almost always already inside the business. Our job is to surface it, test it, and help you act on it before the window closes.

Today there are five of us. Two have finance backgrounds, one came from operations management in logistics, one is a former product director, and one spent a decade in recruitment. We are not generalists pretending to know everything. Each project gets the person whose experience fits the problem.

We are based at 8 Denesik Approach, Bernhard Cross, Scotland, EA12 6LC, and travel to client sites across the UK as needed. Most diagnostic and coaching work happens in person; execution sprints often mix on-site days with remote collaboration.

Questions we hear often

The diagnostic deep-dive starts at £3,200. An eight-week strategy sprint ranges from £12,000 to £22,000 depending on scope and team size. Leadership coaching is £850 per month for fortnightly sessions. We quote a fixed fee before work begins, and we do not bill by the hour.
Our sweet spot is companies with £1m to £25m in annual revenue and 10 to 150 employees. Below that threshold, the cost of a consulting engagement rarely pays back quickly enough. If you are pre-revenue or very early stage, we are happy to recommend other advisors who specialise in startups.
Food and drink manufacturing, professional services, B2B SaaS, construction, logistics, and healthcare staffing. We tend to decline projects in heavily regulated sectors like banking or pharmaceuticals where domain-specific compliance knowledge matters more than general strategy.
Yes. About a third of our clients do exactly that. You get the written diagnostic report and can decide whether to continue with us, hand it to an internal team, or park it entirely. There is no obligation to proceed to the sprint phase.
We agree on two or three measurable indicators before the sprint begins: revenue per head, gross margin percentage, lead conversion rate, whatever fits the problem. Every fortnight we report against those numbers. If progress stalls for two consecutive cycles, we pause and reassess scope at no extra cost.
